My first shopping experience in a Primark was on a wet, windy and extremely cold October’s day in Brighton just over 10 years ago.
I was a student, had been living in Brighton for just over a month and found myself without a coat with winter creeping up on me.
Taking the advice of fellow students and housemates, I jumped on the bus into town and walked in the opposite direction of all the people with the big brown bags bearing the name ‘Primark’ in turquoise letters. And so began my love affair with the low budget high street favourite.
What started for me as a place to pick up cheap basics like socks and plain t-shirts (and my black duffel coat for £12) has now become a leader in catwalk copies.
Even the photography has come on leaps and bounds – these shots from the SS14 collection could be Zara or Mango… so my UK friends – get to Primark and fill those baskets with SS14 goodies.
