Last month The Chalhoub Group had a huge sale at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
I hadn’t been before so I got there nice and early to avoid the queues….or so I thought! Turns out this bi-annual sale is hugely popular and there were people lining up 30minutes before doors opened, so rather than grab a coffee I joined the already quite long queue!
Once open though the line moved quickly and inside the hall was organised into clearly marked mini sections by designer/brand.
The disappointing thing was that there wasn’t really anything worth picking up when it came to bags/clothes and I had been hoping to get a few presents for the upcoming birthday season! However the makeup and perfume sections were great and prices were really reasonable (a lot of things were more than 50% off).
I got a couple of perfumes and then a bag from a table which can only be described as a lucky dip! Each bag was AED20 and had four items so pretty good value and worth getting even if there was only one thing in the bag you knew you wanted. I split mine with a friend so I came home with two Rimmel products which are probably the last things I would ever reach for in Boots – but that was the point, try something new when it’s such a bargain!
Rimmel 1000 kisses is much like a felt tip pen, it’s a lip tint so it goes on dry and not as glossy or pigmented as a lipstick. On the other end of the pen is a clear balm which goes on transparent and gives a bit more shine but also helps to make the colour last longer. Mine is perpetual plum which is a deep pink shade.
The second thing I took from the bag was a mascara and believe it or not, I only wear mascara a few times a year! I don’t feel that they make that much difference if you already have black eyelashes….but anyway I gave Rimmel Scandaleyes a try and it’s pretty good as far as drugstore mascaras go. The brush is big enough that is’s easy to use (the chunky lid helps) and it isn’t gloopy (technical term) at all.
