Grazia Blogger Masterclass

Grazia blogging masterclass

Last Monday I went to the first of three fashion and beauty blogging masterclasses run by Grazia at the Apple Store on Regent Street.

I’m a bit later than planned with this post, but just in time to let you know about it before the second class tomorrow on Monday 29 October. Same time (7pm) and same place (Apple Store on Regent Street).

Grazia Blogger Masterclass

It’s free to attend which is great as it’s such a useful thing to go to, not only to hear from others in the industry but to actually meet face to face. Be warned though, it’s first come first served so get there early if you want a seat!

The classes are part of the new School of Grazia series connecting fashion bloggers with fashion industry experts from long time bloggers to designers. Hosting the first of the three classes was Grazia’s Editor-At-Large, the lovely Angela Buttolph. The theme of the evening? An Introduction to Blogging, and I have to say even though I’ve been blogging for a year, it was really useful. On the panel were three great boggers Laetitia from Mademoiselle Robot, Reem Kanj of Five Five Fabulous and Stella of Stella’s Wardrobe.

If you missed it, here’s what they had to say:

First up, the lovely Stella from Stella’s Wardrobe

Stella's Wardrobe

“My blog started almost by accident. I won a t-shirt design competition and decided to start a blog. The idea was to have a diary of my outfits, almost a back catalogue.”

“I never wanted to become a professional blogger, and I’m a student so I wouldn’t say I am a full time blogger. My ambition is to work as a stylist.”

“I dress like this all the time, even at 9am on a Sunday morning, it isn’t dressing up for me, it is part of my life.”

“My blog is like a fashion CV for me, to show how I style myself. My one tip would be always always be yourself.”

Laetitia from Mademoiselle Robot:

Laetitia’s top tips:

“I started my blog when I was on maternity leave after having my little girl. It was a way for me to stay in touch with friends in France.”

“It all happened very quickly for me, I would say within six months I was working on it full time.”

“Let it happen organically.”

“I am not a part of handpicked media or any other network, I am a free spirit!”

Reem Kanj, Five Five Fabulous:

Reem’s advice:

“Always work hard and be persistent.”

“Bloggers should know that you can make money from a blog, I work on the blog full time.”

“Make use of social media, I schedule tweets when I have blog posts going up let people know about the posts, retweets can really help to boost traffic.”

The second class (on Monday 29 October) will be hosted by Angela once again and will look at Street Style, Trend Spotting and Photography. You’ll hear from Grazia’s Style Hunter Hannah Almassi, photographer Phill Taylor and bloggers Peony Lim and Sandra of 5 inch and Up.

If you’re keen to include video content on your blog, the third session on Monday 5 November will present a Guide to Vlogging masterclass with three YouTube stars on the panel – Lily Pebbles of What I Heart Today, Anna of Vivianna Does Makeup and Gemma of Gemsmaquillage.

If you can’t make the sessions or aren’t based in London, all will be available to download from iTunes.
