Last weekend we were invited to Saturday brunch at Ba Restaurant & Lounge at Fairmont the Palm – currently my favourite Dubai hotel.
We opted for the non-alcoholic package which at just 225dhms is a bargain for what you get, but there are other options too including the alcoholic package for 395dhms including cocktails and wine etc… and the VIP package for 550dhms which includes bubbles and a beach cabana.
The restaurant is obviously Chinese so the Yum Cha brunch is perfect if like me you love dim sum and the menu also includes Asian tapas and items from the wok and BBQ.
All of the packages include unlimited items from the menu as well as beach and pool access (complete with DJ who last weekend was playing great music) so when the dress code is casual, they really mean casual which makes a nice change.
Now that it’s starting to heat up we decided to sit outside on the terrace while we still could but you can also take a table within the restaurant which is beautifully decorated.
When it comes to food and service, zero complaints – the staff were all friendly and more importantly, knew the menu inside and out and made great recommendations. If you let your waiter choose a selection for you be sure to point out anything you don’t eat or spice preferences as some of the dishes are packed with chili!
Suffice to say I was spreading the word the very next day urging all my friends and colleagues to try it out, it’s the perfect end to the weekend – particularly last Saturday which followed a whole week and Friday of working.
It goes without saying the views are incredible, especially when the sky is clear you can see out over Jetty Lounge to the sea in one direction and looking back to the mainland you get an incredible view of the marina skyline.
There wasn’t a single dish I’d say I didn’t like but my favourites were the spiced soft shell crab, chili papaya salad, vegetable dim sum and coconut mochi.
We’ll definitely be going back, like I said with temperatures rising the way they are at the moment we’ll probably choose a table inside next time!
Big thanks to the Ba Lounge team and lovely Charlotte.
