A very Welsh weekend

A couple of weekends ago we took a trip to Wales to see my mum and celebrate her birthday with a day out and a relaxing weekend.

I love escaping London to go and stay with my mum, it’s like a home away from home.

The good thing about Chepstow is that it’s the perfect little town for a lazy Sunday and nestled in between two great cities – Cardiff in Wales and Bristol in England, so basically you get the best of both worlds.

On our last trip we opted for a Saturday day out in Bristol. The difference between both of these cities and London, is that whist they offer almost everything that London does in terms of shopping, restaurants and things to do, they are much more compact and just more laid back.

We always get the coach down from London Victoria as it’s only a two and a half hour drive and it goes straight into Chepstow without any other stops first.

It’s actually quite a nice drive out of London, we tend to spend the whole week rushing around the city so it’s nice to sit back, relax and enjoy the river views on the way out – and I love the pinkness of Chelsea Bridge and all the little house boats moared in a line!

We had a quiet Friday night in with a lovely home-cooked dinner and catch up. Saturday was spent mooching around Bristol on a crisp but dry day and then we had a lazy Sunday wandering around Chepstow with a visit to our regular hangout coffee no.1!

All in all, the perfect relaxing weekend with the added bonus of mummy time!
